Audition Information for 2008-2009 Season
How To Become A Member of the Lincoln Youth Symphony
You must be a member of any large instrumental ensemble in grades 9-12 in your high school in the City of Lincoln during the 2008-2009 academic year.
You must read and agree to abide by the LPS & LYS Policies.
You must sign up for audition. To sign up for an audition, please click on this link Audition Registration Form and fill out the form to reserve an audition slot. Deadline for receipt of audition form is Monday, May 12.
If accepted, you will be expected to attend Tuesday afternoon rehearsals (4:00-6:30 PM) and performances as scheduled (on Sunday afternoons or evenings). If you think you will have to miss more than 3 rehearsals because of involvement in other activities, you are probably too busy to participate in LYS.
LYS Auditions for the 2008-2009 school year are from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on May 13, 2008 at Lincoln High School.
LYS Audition Requirements
1) Perform two scales chosen by the judge from the posted scale sheet.
2) Perform solo material of the student's choice. The student should choose material that demonstrates contrasting styles. Material should not be longer than 1-2 minutes.
3) Perform the required excerpts posted below.
4) Sight reading
