LYS Audition Information
AUDITIONS FOR THE 2009-2010 SEASON WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 12TH. Auditions will be held at Lincoln High School in the after school hours. ROOMS FOR AUDITIONS: The West Gym is the Warm-up room between 4:00 and 5:00. Room 153 (Instrumental Music Room) is the warm-up room before 4:00 and after 5:00. STRINGS: rm. 143 (new choir room); BRASS: rm. 137; WOODWINDS: rm. 155; PERCUSSION: rm. 153. TO ENTER THE BUILDING, come in the front doors facing Normal Blvd. Go to the right and down the stairs, turn right at the bottom of the stairs, then left down the long hallway. You'll hear the music by that time.
How To Become A Member of the Lincoln Youth Symphony
1. You must be a member of any large instrumental ensemble in grades 9-12 in your high school in the City of Lincoln during the 2009-2010 academic year.
2. You must read and agree to abide by the LPS & LYS Policies. A link to the new policies can be found on the main page.
3. If accepted, you will be expected to attend Tuesday afternoon rehearsals (4:00-6:30 PM) and performances as scheduled (on Sunday afternoons or evenings). If you think you will have to miss more than 3 rehearsals because of involvement in other activities, you are probably too busy to participate in LYS.
4. To set up an audition time, please email Clark Potter at cpotter1@unl.edu. Auditions are at 5 minute intervals. If you have a preference for a specific time, accommodations will be made as close as possible on a first come, first served basis. You will receive a confirmation email with your audition time and place. The deadline to set up an audition time is Friday, May 8.
